Yuppies are a band from Omaha, Nebraska, who deliver angular, energetic post-punk that sits somewhere between the groove of Fugazi, the minimalist tales of the Fall or the Minutemen, and the anthemic sonic assault of Husker Du. Begun as an antidote to teenage boredom and honed in the basement venues of the midwest, the band developed its own take on the pop song — aggressive, and head on, if a little skewed. In this episode of Serious Business on BTR, they blast through a few jams and spend some time chatting with Travis, just a bunch of dudes sitting around drinking seltzer, talking about tufts and influential bands.
