Ida Mae is the Nashville-based duo of Chris Turpin and Stephanie Jean, who are originally from the UK. The musical and romantic partners developed the project in the wake of their previous band, taking inspiration from the Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee song, “Ida Mae” as they forged a new musical path. Their powerful blend of guitar and voice uses a strong sense of melody and pop structure, making for a refreshing mix of British soul and Americana. The duo stopped by while on tour with Greta Van Fleet to share this intimate look at their tunes with us at Serious Business Music in Brooklyn.
Ida Mae’s debut album, Chasing Lights, is available now from Thirty Tigers.
