Amy Oelsner is a songwriter currently based in Bloomington, Indiana. With her band, and under the name Amy O, she has succeeded in developing a record that manages to feel both familiar and fresh, referencing the much-adored sounds of bands like Sleater-Kinney and Helium with bombastic riffs and solid semi-sweet melodies while also revealing some authentic emotional truths. Amy’s no stranger to putting it all out there — in addition to working on music in various forms for over a decade, she’s also poured her talents into zine culture, with a new release in the form of Yoko Oh Yes!, a collection of interviews with female musicians. Amy O stopped by Serious Business music in DUMBO, Brooklyn, to rock out for this fun session.
Elastic by Amy O is available now from Winspear.
