After meeting at the Berklee College of Music while working on a film score, Passion Pit keyboardist Ian Hulquist and Sofia degli Alessandri formed the electro-pop twosome Aislyn, later adding drummer Joey Sulkowski to become a trio. Using their dreamy, synth-heavy stylings, they’ve remixed fresh, blissfully-layered versions of tracks for everyone from Neon Indian to the Freelance Whales. Here, Aislyn’s own “Spies” builds up slowly with Alessandri’s somber, yet angelic voice, and expands into a dizzying electronic climax of whizzing, whirring and whooshing effects. The backdrop of hypnotic sounds coupled with the airy vocals makes for a rich, mood-altering tune.
