Mike Pace once led the popular NYC band Oxford Collapse, who dished out catchy, 80s college rock-tinged post-punk in the shape of records from Kanine and Sub Pop. Now, after a six year break from playing music, and picking up an acoustic guitar and moving to Austin, Texas, for a few years, those familiar 80s sentiments — touching on Pace’s Long Island upbringing and apparent nostalgia for the decade in general — are more apparent than ever in his first solo release with The Child Actors. Here, he presents the new music in duo form and talks with Maia about his experiences.
