Overlord is a bit of a Brooklyn institution. Longstanding torchbearers of the borough’s pop/indie rock tradition, the running joke about how their name sounds like that of a metal band is starting to wear a little thin. They’ve certainly developed their own reputation and are too good to exist as the punchline of their own joke. Originally more of a solo project for songwriter George Pasles, they’ve existed as a full band — with Sarah Brockett (of Palomar), Tris McCall (of My Teenage Stride), and Matt Houser (of The Human Hearts) — for long enough now to prove that they do, in fact, rule. Here, they sit down with both Maia Macdonald and Travis Harrison for a fun chat.
