Cassie moved to Georgia from Pennsylvania and has lived in the state for over 10 years. She witnessed the growing diversity of her city and how the efforts of people like Stacey Abrams gave voice to its citizens, which led to the state turning blue in the 2020 US presidential election for the first time in nearly 30 years. She shares that, despite this win for democracy, it is not a time to relax. The country must work towards being anti-racist, from one’s self to our government leaders, before it can properly heal.
