Hanabi is back from their trips and decide to take a stay-cation. Hey, Seattle isn’t a bad place to do that either. Hanabi likes to go to some of the lesser talked about, more off the beaten path, every-man kind of places. It’s even better when yo consider how often he does this for Japanese restaurants. Obasan is just such a place and their mackerel shioyaki is anything but off the beaten path.
BTR opens up your Wednesday with DJRePete. Today he’s spinning the new album by the Born Ruffians, highlighting the piano and vocal talents of Soren Bryce, and sampling some BTR’s international talent with the likes of Abdias Ernesto Garcia. Plus, hit up some electronica range with Superhuman Happiness, Summer Camp, and the Eternal Summers. And don’t miss alt with Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin, and a bloc by BTR newcomer out of New Jersey: The Front Bottoms. That’s your midweek mix with DJRePete on BTR!
Soda Shop is a New York band whose dreamy, shimmery indie pop evokes the same 50s nostalgia as their wholesome name. With songs centered around the songwriting/producing duo of Maria Usbeck (also of Brooklyn band Selebrities) and Drew Diver (formerly of The Drums), they rarely play live but have been making a huge impression with their fantastically recorded tracks. The band stopped by Serious Business Music to share a live taste of what they're capable of, and to chat about the meaning of their songs.
