Becca Mancari is a songwriter with an honest heart who has found her musical footing in the American south -- specifically Nashville. Mancari is currently celebrating the release of her debut full length album, Good Woman, which has been a lifetime in the making. She and her band visited Serious Business Music in Brooklyn earlier this fall during their tour with Humming House. Good Woman is available now from Gold Tooth Records. Listen to the audio podcast for more music and interview.
All Our Exes Live in Texas is the collaboration of four of the best singer-songwriters from Sydney, Australia -- Elana Stone, Katie Wighton, Hannah Crofts and Georgia Mooney. Their talents combine beautifully with four-part harmonies around mandolin, ukulele, accordion, and guitar and while their music certainly has some sweet subtleties, there’s nothing soft about the band’s vibe, which tends toward badasserie. We caught up with them on their recent trip to New York City for this intimate performance in Prospect Park, Brooklyn. When We Fall, the debut album from All Our Exes Live In Texas, is available now.
A seasoned veteran of the music scene, James A.M. Downes has been involved in many projects over the years, currently including the Philly-based trio, The End Of America. This year marks the release of his solo debut EP, Prison Font, with Forest Park Recordings. BTRtv joined Downes at the Meadowport Arch in Prospect Park for a live performance of "Bait My Soul," the lead track off his new record.
Ahead of the release of her new album, Brooklyn songwriter/autoharp enthusiast/artist Elizabeth Devlin returns for her third episode of BTR Hear + There. Joined by cellist-about-town Emily Hope Price (who you may recognize from the recently-departed band Pearl and the Beard), Devlin set up shop at the Cypress Hills Taxidermy Studio in Queens among the deer, bear, and a whole jungle worth of animals for a very intimate performance of one of her new songs. Orchid Mantis by Elizabeth Devlin will be released February 8, 2017.
