While attending a teaching program in Israel, Ari was overcome with anxiety and depression. Not usually one to be homesick, she was confused by her new emotions. After a little over a month, she cut her planned year-long trip short and returned to New York. She revisited her therapist whom she hadn’t seen since she was a teenager and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Ari shares what it has been like living with the disorder and how it is not something to be ashamed about.
