It had been 44 years since psych folk artist Linda Perhacs released an album. But the inspiration she drew from nature and the cult following devoted to her first LP, awakened her inclination for songwriting. Released on March 4th by Asthmatic Kitty Records, The Soul Of All Natural Things, revisits Perhacs’ 70s era new age tendencies and couples them with modern production. The album is an exploration of beautiful tones, the elements of the universe, and 70-year-old Perhacs’ spiritual worldview.
A story about the lady who lives underneath my floorboards, and new music from Ava Luna, Real Estate, Wild Beasts, and Linda Perhacs.
This week on Sew & Tell, I am honored to feature a conversation with Adrienne Jones, Professor of Fashion Design at Pratt Institute and designer in her own right, who organized the current Pratt exhibit “Black Dress.” The exhibit shines a spotlight on the work from ten contemporary black designers, at a time when that population is sorely underrepresented in the world of fashion. Join us as Adrienne shares about her own career path in design and fashion education, how her godmother inspired “Black Dress,” the evolution of the exhibit and its featured designers, and more. Plus, a playlist chock-full of new music, including the latest from TEEN, Real Estate, Ages & Ages, and more! So tune in & turn it up - it’s time for fashion on BTR!
