Cy Dune is the pen name and “mythological rebel persona” of Seth Olinsky, songwriter of bizarro folk punks Akron/Family. His extensive history of experimental sonic expressionism has taken him to countless corners of the music world, and this incarnation of his work manages to pull many of those pieces together. A largely improvised project, Cy Dune blends live performance of guitar and vocal and instrumental loops. For this special session, recorded at Greenpoint’s Spaceman Sound, Seth performs and shares some insight into the genesis of this unique project.
Winstons is the new, Brooklyn-based/Virginia-conceived duo of Lou Nutting (guitar, vocals) and Ben Brock Wilkes (drums, vocals). Formed less than a year ago, this garage-soul band has already stormed some of the best stages in town with their furious blues-tinged rock ‘n roll, and they brought their high energy performance to Spaceman Sound in Greenpoint for this session.
