Monomyth is a psych-pop foursome from Halifax, Nova Scotia. To borrow from their official bio, since they put it so perfectly, they play "janglophile pop with a smirking sense of humour, stadium-sized hooks, and starry-eyed harmonies from the barbershop of broken dreams," with inspiration from the likes of Sloan, Big Star, Television, and My Bloody Valentine peppered amongst their three lead singers. During CMJ 2014, they stopped by Saltlands Studio in DUMBO, Brooklyn, to play some songs and share tales of their highly inspired creative process and the challenges of a rivalry with a similarly-named band.
White Reaper is a badass rock 'n roll/garage-pop band from Louisville, Kentucky. You really don't need to hear much more than that to know that you'll love them from the first fuzzy chord. They stopped by in the middle of a CMJ blitz for this session sat Saltlands in DUMBO, Brooklyn.
Smorgasburg takes over Brooklyn, New York each weekend.
