Plus, music before you can buy it from Deer Tick, a bloc from the variable Dent May, and ‘quirk-electronica’ with Of Montreal. Plus, closing the loop on transitions, celebrate DJRePete hitting 8 years on the BreakThru Radio airwaves with 2009 throwbacks by Almost Charlie, Zero 7, and The Rural Alberta Advantage. It’s BTR Wednesday!

I have a seriously sartorial trailblazer for you on today’s show: meet designer Courtney Allegra, who debuted her eponymous ready-to-wear women’s line at last fall’s LA Fashion Week. She’s been featured on The Today Show alongside Rachel Roy, appeared in the pages of Seventeen, Girl’s Life, Essence, Huff Po, and Avant Garde, and her label has been worn on the red carpet. She’s also in high school. On today’s show, you’ll hear from Courtney about what it’s like to launch and run a label at age 16, where she gets inspiration for her bold, fresh, sophisticated-yet-playful designs, and her amazing post-graduation ambitions. Plus, a playlist full of great songs off just a handful of this week’s new releases – tracks in the mix from Dent May, The Dodos, Califone, and Franz Ferdinand (they’re back!!) So tune in and get ahead of the fashion curb with Sew & Tell on BTR!
To get your BTR Wednesday started, DJRePete’s spinning an eclectic mix that’s sure to please, including funk by Lyrics Born, alternative with Bleeding Rainbow, and folk with Foxygen. Plus, to help you plan out the rest of your summer, don’t miss info on a quartet of festivals across the globe going down in the latter half of this month—among them the one, the only Lebowski Fest which is as awesomely niche as it sounds and featuring BTR band: Thao & The Get Down Stay Down. Keeping you up to date and musically sound, it’s DJRePete and BTR!
SXSW!!!!!! We need not say more, as DJRePete’s got a mix covering some of the underground bands playing the Austin Festival, including alternative with Fort Lean and The Thermals, electro funk via Toro Y Moi and Dent May, and zen lyricless tracks with Delicate Steve and Frightened Rabbit.
