Everybody's running for president, so why not me? LOL. I guess right now I'm the president of the World Hip-Hop show because I'm the only DJ right now playing great hip-hop music from around the world constantly. Some of these artists, the other DJ's wouldn't even give them the time of the day. That's why I'm the opposite, the bizarre one, and I take chances. All that top 40 junk. Playing the same records over and over. That's another business in itself. Right now though, we have another mix right here to prove what I can do. Listen up!!!
Wintersleep are a Juno Award-winning Canadian indie rock band from Yarmouth, Nova Scotia comprised of Paul Murphy, Loel Campbell, Tim D'Eon, Chris Bell, and Jon Samuel. Well into their third decade of the band, the group has a well-established, rich sound rooted in rock with touches of folk that has kept them sounding fresh and innovative all along. Notably, they pack their extremely hooky songs with poignant lyrics and self-reflective, critical storytelling that brings you in closer on each listen. It was exciting to have them in for this fantastic session at Serious Business Music in Brooklyn. In The Land Of is available now from Dine Alone Records. Listen to the audio podcast for more music and interview.

If the world is flat, how come the moon's not flat? Or the sun? How does the water stay a float if the world is flat? Nobody has yet to be recorded falling off of the earth. Anyway this is the "Is the moon flat?" mix. LOL!! Somebody told me the moon is a optical illusion. I almost fell to the ground. You know what? Let's just bop our heads to the flat moon. Let's go!!!
Motherhood is the Fredericton, NB, Canada-based trio of Brydon Crain, Penelope Stevens, and Adam Sipkema. A (rightfully) self-proclaimed trio of “deep-thinkin’ rippers,” they share an impressively high level of musicality and intensity that comes thru on record and truly shines in a live environment. With a twisting, propulsive sort of artiness to their heavy, HEAVY rock, the band manages to produce a gnarly, twangy, fuzzy sort of new sound without ever feeling like too much. They dropped by Serious Business Music in Brooklyn to blow our minds for this session. Dear Bongo is available now from Forward Music Group. Listen to the audio podcast for more music and interview.
You see the title? Yeah, I'm in Oakland, California now. Stopped in LA first last week, then headed over to Vegas to hangout with the legendary Biz Markie, came back to LA the next day and had a meeting with another legend, Nasty Ness. We were sitting down talking, Ness gets a text that Kobe Bryant passed away. Our last day in LA was a rollercoaster ride. So sad. R.I.P. to Kobe Bryant & his daughter and all the other passengers. We left Ness' house to go eat some great seafood at the Drunken Crab, returned back to the hotel, I took a little nap and then got ready for DJ Statik Selectah's birthday party. It was a great time. I met up with model and singer "I Am The Dan". We wound up meeting The Game, Jadakiss and I bumped into Young Guru. After LA we flew to Oakland. Now I'm bringing you a dope mix, and this mix will never be forgotten, straight outta Oakland. Check it out..Love who you love. Stay positive. You just never know what life will bring you.
Enjoy a set by Triio (a sextet led by the Canadian bassist and composer Alex Fournier) on today’s episode of The Jazz Hole Live.
