Johanna Botta heads out to Bushwick, Brooklyn, to find The Muse, Brooklyn’s premier circus school and event facility. Previously housed on the ill-fated block of Williamsburg that also held Glasslands, 285 Kent, and Death By Audio, the school has a new home further out on the L train, this time with plenty of room to stretch their legs and host classes and events. Here, we check in with the founder of The Muse, Angela Buccinni, and learn some circus skills from aerial artist and instructor, Nicki Miller.
The Morbid Anatomy Museum in Gowanus, Brooklyn, aims to present death and other morbid subjects in a beautiful and welcoming context, in order to get people to rethink any negative views they might hold on the topics. BreakThruTV’s Johanna Botta tours the museum with the its creative director, Joanna Ebenstein, and checks out a phrenological death mask, post-mortem photographs, and a diaphonized stingray, among other things.
