Premiering the First Single "Motovun" From Blue Canopy's Upcoming EP

Riding off of 2020’s Mild Anxiety EP, Alex Schiff—aka Blue Canopy—is coming at us with a new take on his worries with 2021’s Sleep While You Can EP.

The first single from the upcoming EP is a soothing, echoing, synth-driven track called “Motovun.” About a hilltop town in Croatia that Schiff and his wife visited during their honeymoon, it melodically revolves around a carefree moment in time. The song holds onto that free-spirited experience while also piling up the fears that arose as the couple became parents.

“The song is about the anxiety around having a kid,” Schiff says. “What that will mean in terms of losing the past version of ourselves and our relationship before our son, Graham, was born.”

The video for “Motovun” is a mosaic of scenes that go from collage clippings to children walking through a forest and more. Artistically threaded together, the overlapping and unique scenes pair well with the gentle anxieties the track conveys.
