Kira Metcalf Gets Feisty as Several Different Characters in "Hoax"

Kira Metcalf is here to point out all those red flags you’ve been ignoring for way too long. And what better way to do that than with a three-minute rock ‘n’ roll cabaret video?

Thrashing and bursting with catchy riffs showering you in distortion, “Hoax” is as entertaining as it is heavy. The Brooklyn-based musician uses her powerful vocals to warn you not to fall for the bullshit of gaslighters and other power abusers. Cascading scenes are filled with costume changes, confetti canons, and emotional guitar and vocal shreds. The video for “Hoax” comes off as a cabaret pumped with adrenaline.

“We wanted to create something that would really let the song speak for itself,” Metcalf says. “Each ‘character’ embodies a different attitude that covers the spectrum of emotions I feel when performing it—she’s cheeky, bold, unapologetically in your face, and ready to strike back.”
