For 30 years, the City Parks Foundation has made summer in New York City a celebration of art and performance. From June to October, the independent nonprofit celebrates the season with around 100 events, including many free concerts and shows.
This year marks a change at their key venue, SummerStage in Central Park, which has undergone significant refurbishing. Capital One City Parks Foundation SummerStage now boasts improved facilities, members only areas, new bars and food options, and well-outfitted backstage/VIP accommodations for performers. The season kicks off on Saturday, June 1, with a concert by Brooklyn’s Emily King. In the coming months, BTRtoday favorites Parquet Courts, Big Freedia, Kruanghbin, Japanese Breakfast, Alvvays, Kurt Vile, Rubblebucket, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, The Growlers, and more play the comfortable outdoor venue.
