This week marked a significant turning point for the Occupy movement as Wall Street protesters were allowed back into Zuccotti Park for the first time on Tuesday since being evicted in mid-November. Elsewhere in the world, the recent death of 23-year-old Muyideen Mustapha Opobiyi in Nigeria has only served to heighten their resolve.
To demonstrate their support of Occupy Nigeria and corresponding protests across the globe, protesters in New York City staged a rally in front of the Nigerian Consulate late yesterday afternoon. According to the official website of Occupy Wall Street, the rally was also symbolically intended to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the opening of the Guantanamo Bay prison facilities and the passing of NDAA just before the new year.
