This week, BTR went to check out My Metropolitan by Ry Rocklen at the Feuer Mesler Gallery. The gallery is difficult to find as it lies behind an unassuming, apartment-style door and you have to press a buzzer to get in, but it’s well worth the visit. This particular show features a collection of sculptures derived from images of ancient artifacts taken at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The front of the sculptures feature a decal of an artifact, and the mirror behind reveals a unique ceramic backing to each image. These arrangements help give the artifacts a new element of meaning.
Feuer Mesler Gallery is on 319 Grand St. on the 2nd floor.
