At the “Unleashed: Dogs & Social Media” panel during Internet Week New York, a discussion was held about the success of social media accounts based around a few cool canines. The dogs appeared for the panel discussion and a meet and greet with fans at the Metropolitan Pavilion. Famous faces included MenswearDog, Livefredtastic and ToastMeetsWorld.
Katie Sturino, creator of ToastMeetsWorld and founder of Tinder PR, spoke on the panel along with David Fung and Yena Kim, founders of MenswearDog. Liz Eswein, creator of newyorkcity on Instagram, and Elias Weiss Friedman, creator of TheDogist, also joined the conversation. Cannon Hodge, Luxury Social Media Consultant and creator of Livefredtastic, moderated the discussion. Her dog Fred helped as much as he could from his seat on her lap.
The panelists discussed what sparked the idea for social media accounts about their dogs, how they grew the accounts, and the effect it has had on both them and their pets. Tips for success were given on how to manage social media platforms as well as how to incorporate pets in advocating for causes through the internet, particularly those involving animals.
