Though many of the meat distribution companies that once occupied the area no longer exist, Manhattan’s Meatpacking District retains it’s name. The area boasts longstanding establishments like The Old Homestead Steakhouse, which has been in business for over a century. The Apple Store and upscale boutiques with glass architecture are newer additions that are a stark contrast to the older buildings, meatpacking houses, and cobblestone streets.
The district is also home to the country’s first elevated park, the High Line, which offers incredible views from either side. Other popular spots in the neighborhood include The Standard Grill, Hotel Gansevoort, Spice Market, and the new Whitney Museum. The unique culture, shopping, and eateries make the Meatpacking District a must-see in New York.
