Patrick Waldo, a.k.a. Moustache Man, penned his signature “moustache” tag on thousands of subway ads from 2011 to 2012. Last week Waldo debuted his first solo show at Krause Gallery (149 Orchard Street, New York, NY.)
Waldo’s effective advertising takeover gained attention from the press, New Yorkers, and the NYPD, who, following a three-month investigation, arrested the artist in 2011 under felony counts of “criminal mischief.” More than thirty new works targeting advertisements found in bus shelters, subways and magazines mark Waldo’s return to the New York urban art scene.
Moustache Man runs concurrently with Waldo’s one-man show Moustache Man: Confessions of a Graffiti Artist at the Upright Citizens Brigade (307 West 26th Street, New York, NY.) till March 6th.
