The crowdfunding website, Kickstarter.com, has become the place for filmmakers both small and large to get funding for their next project. This year, nestled beneath the Williamsburg Bridge in Brooklyn, NY, Kickstarter held its 3rd annual film festival. The festival was comprised of numerous shorts, excerpts, and trailers for films that received funding through Kickstarter. The screenings were held in an open lot adjacent to the old New York landmark Domino Sugar factory, also the site of the mobile North Brooklyn Farms. Besides the films, the festivities included live music including a guest performance by Thomas Grillo, the subject of the documentary Mr Grillo: The Thereminist.
