Trayvon Martin Protests in NYC

ADDITIONAL CONTRIBUTORS BTR Editorial

Hundreds of New Yorkers dressed in hoodies rallied in Union Square on Wednesday night demanding the arrest of George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch captain accused of fatally shooting Florida teen Trayvon Martin. Due to Florida’s “Stand Your Ground” law, Zimmerman can claim self defense and will not be charged in the death, although he has admitted to shooting the unarmed 17-year-old. Some protesters held bags of Skittles and iced tea, a symbol of Martin’s innocence, as the teen was reportedly purchasing candy before he died on February 26th.
