Valentine’s Day is for nerds. As Joel Barish said in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, “it’s a holiday invented by greeting card companies to make people feel like crap.” And usually, I would agree. But this year is different.
We desperately need a reason to celebrate love in 2021. Last year was full of so much hatred and bad news, I think it’s okay to get a little cheesy for Valentine’s Day this time around. You shouldn’t need a holiday to remind you to dote on the one you love, but why not use it as a reason to celebrate that love?
Below is a playlist of my favorite love songs from artists I’ve featured on The Music Meetup. So enjoy the mood and make sure to check out the episodes and features with the artists.
