mixtapemaestro - Hoodie Allen “Feel The Love”

Now that it has been proven that online hip-pop phenom Hoodie Allen needn’t have to flip a Hype Machine-smash indie sample to get folks to part with their dollars (his samples-free “official debut” EP All-American ended up garnering Top 10 entry placement on the big Billboard album chart), it comes as a little bit of an extra treat that the rapper/ singer would backtrack to the style that first got him on the buzz train for new freebie release “Feel The Love”.

Arriving on the eve of Allen’s next tour (check for dates here), “Feel The Love” serves as both a tribute to Allen’s loyal fanbase and a well-deserved victory lap-like course celebrating the rapper/ singer’s baby steps past mixtape sensation into the commercial success realm. Most notable though is the work put in by longtime collaborator/ producer RJF, who re-works bits of UK outfit Rudimental’s R&B-meets-drum n bass-flavored international dance smash “Feel The Love” into a radio-polished brew that comfortably sits on par with some of Hoodie’s past stand-out productions and could very well help give the thrilling sample source the American breakthrough its somehow missed out on.
