There were plenty of issues with the fourth episode of Game of Thrones season eight—frenetic pacing, questionable narrative decisions and another dragon death. But the show’s biggest blunder was brewed at a local Starbucks.
my favorite show in the entire world forgot a STARBUCKS COFFEE CUP ON THE TABLE WHILE FILMING pic.twitter.com/60z3pOCfg9

The cup is a dumb mistake, the kind of gaffe that would be easy to forgive if it didn’t happen on the most popular show on television in its final episodes. And for Thrones fans dissatisfied with season thus far, the cup feels like a microcosm of the show’s rushed feel. Even if you give the show the benefit of the doubt, it still begs the question: between the hundreds of people on set and hundreds more involved in post production, how did no one notice a coffee cup sitting smack in the middle of a shot?
Fortunately, Twitter noticed and seems like it won’t soon forget.

Broke: they accidentally left a starbucks cup on the set, oops
Woke: Starbucks is canon in Game of Thrones world

Even though the cup hasn’t been confirmed as Starbucks (we’re monitoring the situation closely), the available jokes were too perfect.

GoT set person 1: Who left a Starbucks cup in the shot?
GoT set person 2: I don’t know. Check for a name.
GoT set person 1: (picks up cup and examines) A cup has no name.

Game of Thrones’ show runners will likely never live this down. Especially if the cup turned out to be one of theirs.
OH MY GOD, the showrunners were literally in the same scene as the Starbucks cup. pic.twitter.com/TS7wNPUCDf

Twitter might never let this coffee cup go. But at least it’s making valid Thrones criticism a little funnier. It stings a bit,
a starbucks cup had more scenes in season 8 than ghost had in season 7

The fact that there was a Starbucks cup in tonight’s Game of Thrones that no producers or editors noticed throughout multiple cuts merely 1 week after the DP yelled that the show’s not too dark to see is truly *chef’s kiss*
