Last time BTRtoday chatted with Big White was during a backyard show in Austin, Texas during SXSW in 2018. They had been touring on their evocative sophomore LP Street Talk and were already talking about new music.
A year later, they’ve done it. Back in Australia they kept the momentum going and worked hard on keeping the inspiration flowing. Heaven’s Unlikely, coming out July 27 via Anniversary Records, is a five-track EP that is soaked in saxophone, vocal harmonies and beats both sweet and sour.

The first two tracks of the EP keep things upbeat and romantic. The last two tracks slow things down and ooze with emotion. “Sold Myself” is smack dab in the middle, breaking up the intensity of the EP. The track is danceable, yet dark. Experimental beats that are fast and exciting pound along while the sax stirs up some chaos and lyrics are sputtered out that are as thought-provoking as they are relatable.
Listen to the newest single “Sold Myself” below and hear how lively post-punk can really be.
