Our Week In Music: Spring Album Releases, Ghostly Labels, & More Exclusive At-Home Performances

In case you couldn’t keep up with the musicians, bands, and artists we’ve been throwing at you all week, here’s a quick recap …

Podcasts

This week, on The Music Meetup, host Elena Childers chatted with Canadian musician Jeen O’brien aka JEEN. She just released a new single and is working on a new album slated to come out this fall. They chatted music, life, and more!

For BTR Live Studio (at Home), host Crazy DJ Bazarro chatted with the one and only Prossess. Hailing from Tampa Bay Florida & New York City, they talked about his early days skateboarding, producing music, and rapping. He’s been hustling in the hip-hop community forever and gave us an exclusive at-home performance.

We also had a new episode of When We See Each Other. This week, host Nikkiesha McLeod chatted with Sci-Fi, a Trans rapper based in Minnesota. Her album Too Late Nights dropped in 2019 and she recently released the single “Bloom,” which is available now on all streaming platforms.

And this week’s episode of Subliminal Inevitable featured Lonely Ghost Records. Host Bryna Bruchman chatted with label owners John and Shane about the young label’s beginnings, their unique approach to working with artists and building a community, and their expanding list of projects.

Plus, another new BTR Live Studio (At-Home) featured Sunny War, a folk/punk musician based in Los Angeles. Her smooth voice and mesmerizing fingerstyle guitar playing make for a fresh sound. She joined us for a conversation about her new album, Simple Syrup, her relationship with music and performing, and more. We also get an exclusive performance of three songs by Sunny War and her bandmate, bassist/vocalist Aroyn Davis—produced with the help of Harlan and Randi Steinberger at Hen House Studios.

Finally, our Top Artist of the Week was Bodies of Water! Our hosts spun their album, Is This What It’s Like (Thousand Tigers) the most this week!

Editorial

This week we started with the video debut of NYC-based solo artist Jade Louise. She paired her first official single with the premiere of a touching music video shot in a snowy upstate NY cabin where she gently raised a giant moss-creature.

We also premiered the video for Canadian rockers Autogramm’s song “Anxiety.” A catchy pop-punk tune with a little bit of a Garfield influence.

Plus, we also set up a list of albums that will be released this spring that we think you’ll love! You gotta check out these rockin’ spring babies.

And, our last premiere of the week came from veteran Portland, Or. rockers Sunday State. “Junior Spacecraft” is their fourth single from their upcoming self-titled debut and it’s as powerful as rocket fuel.

Finally, check out the written feature on this week’s rockin’ Music Meetup artist JEEN, here!
