No, your eyes don’t deceive you—today is March 1st. It’s the one year anniversary of what can only be described as the longest month in human history, when COVID-19 upended life in the United States and around the world. March 2020 sent us all into a collective fever dream of despair, anxiety, and lockdown. We were left wondering what our lives would be like relegated indoors, away from friends and family, unable to congregate to do things we enjoy with people we love.
So much has happened since last March, but it doesn’t seem possible that so much time could’ve passed. Did March 2020 ever really end? At this point it’s fair to wonder. As vaccinations roll out and the world slowly begins to get back to life as it was we’ll probably start to realize the effects this year has had on us. Until then, though, all we can do is throw up our hands, wonder how the hell we made it this far, and enjoy some posts making fun of our shared exhaustion. It’s the healthy choice.
