Fox Showcases Trump at his Most Unhinged

Donald Trump hasn’t been well for awhile. He’s feeling the pressure of bad polling and the abject failure of his presidency, which he sees slipping away. The RNC made him feel good and loved, but it didn’t translate into any kind of polling bump. His desperate blitz to paint Biden as a dangerous radical isn’t really working because, well, Biden isn’t one.

Naturally, Trump is only leaning in harder—and sounding crazier by the minute.

During a recorded (and heavily edited) interview with Fox News host Laura Ingraham, Trump aired it all out, playing directly to his bogus narratives about Black Lives Matter, protestors, Portland, and more. Some of the clips truly need to be watched to be believed, particularly Trump’s bizarre conspiracy of a plane “loaded with thugs” coming to destroy cities that, according to NBC News, apparently matches a months-old, evidence-free Facebook rumor.

If you were wondering how many racist euphemisms Trump could pack into one interview, he partially answered that later when dog whistling that New Jersey Senator Cory Booker would be in charge of “low income housing” designed to destroy suburbs.

And in case that wasn’t quite enough, Trump repeated his bizarre claim that he’s done more for Black Americans than any president except maybe—emphasis on maybe—Abraham Lincoln.

The president went on to compare cops shooting victims to golfers “choking” and missing putts—a statement so egregious even Ingraham edited him in real time.

Trump’s nonsense didn’t stop in any of these particular places, including vilifying Jacob Blake and defending protestor shooter Kyle Rittenhouse. It was a full manifestation of how deranged and openly racist he is in this particular moment, and how his sympathetic media is goading, amplifying, and echoing him. If nothing else, Trump’s interview served as a reminder that even—and perhaps especially—if Biden wins, none of this unhinged, batshit energy is going anywhere.
