Exclusive Song Premiere of Urochromes’ “Hair So Big”

Get ready for blood and guts to spill. Urochromes’ full-length debut Trope House is on its way.

These Massachusetts gritty punk thrashers have combined fast hardcore and melodic garage punk and have built a riotous reputation with their EP releases. But their LP, dropping May 31 via Wharf Cat Records, reveals their high energy brutality, with whirlwinds of drums, raspy vocals and distorted guitar ready to pull you miles from the earth in an instant.

Urochromes calls “Hair So Big,” the first single off the album (premiering below), a “classic Urochrome charger.” Like the rest of the album, it’s far more high-fidelity than their EPs, but they promise that the crisper sound doesn’t sacrifice any spontaneity or power.

“Hair So Big” is a monster waiting to strike. Its lyrics sound at once like a threat and a compliment singing, “now I see you walking around with him… you used to do a lot of walking around with me and I know you remember how that feels.” This is no mopey breakup song—“Hair So Big” is so mosh-ready it could be the theme for moshing itself.
