Spiked Hot Cider

It’s finally getting chilly in New York and, yes, I am happy about it. This is truly my favorite season to spend time outside as well as my favorite time of year for all things culinary. I’m usually more inclined to drink a cold beverage, especially if it’s alcoholic, but there’s something about hot cider that I can’t shy away from. This cocktail is both a kick in the pants and a great fireside companion.

What you’ll need:
1 pint fresh apple cider
2 oz applejack
1 oz bourbon
Zest from 2 oranges
1/2 tsp maple syrup

Bring all of the ingredients to a boil, then let simmer for about 5 minutes on low heat. Serve hot in a mug and garnish with a cinnamon stick if you have one on hand.
