In the spirit of the heat wave that recently swept through the Northeast, I really wanted to capture the essence of all my favorites into the perfect summer cocktail. This one is a particularly versatile cocktail as it works just as well with bourbon as its base as it does with vodka.
What you’ll need:
1 oz vodka/bourbon
2 fresh mint sprigs
1 tsp honey
Slice the peach and remove the stone. Pour the liquor in the blender and add the peach, 1 mint sprig, ice and honey. If your blender has a puree option, use it. If not, blending it will do just fine. Pour into a glass and top it off with the orange juice. Stir and add ice if need be. Garnish with the other mint sprig and serve.
Personally, I find that the peach, honey, and bourbon combination is a bit more flavorful than it is with the vodka, but bourbon isn’t for everyone. Though the flavors of the fruit, mint, and honey will overpower that of the vodka a bit. So if you prefer not to taste the strength in the cocktail, then vodka is the better option.
Either way, this is great way to cool down on a hot summer day and it’s fun to make. Enjoy Thirsty Thursday (but not too much).
