During my most recent trip to the farmer’s market, I bought a fairly large cantaloupe (New Jersey-grown cantaloupes are actually called musk melon) that I can’t possibly eat all by myself. I was hoping to make spicy cantaloupe soup, but I couldn’t find any good habanero peppers and my garden isn’t growing any just yet. So, I figured I’d turn my attention to a cocktail and what better spirit to use for something spicy and fruity than tequila?

What you’ll need:
2 oz tequila
1 oz triple sec
1 oz lime juice
1/2 cup cantaloupe
1/4 tsp kosher salt
1/8 tsp chili powder
Chili pepper

Directions:
Place the salt and chili powder on a plate. Wet the rim of a glass and salt the rim with the ingredients on the plate.

Puree the cantaloupe and pour it into a shaker. Add ice, tequila, triple sec, and lime juice. Shake well and strain into the glass over ice. Garnish with the pepper.
