Happy Thirsty Thursday and Happy Independence Day! In the spirit of America’s birthday, I thought I’d share something a little more fun and youthful than usual: Jell-O shots.
What you’ll need for 20 shots:
3 oz. cherry Jell-O (or any red Jell-O)
3 oz. blue raspberry Jell-O (or any blue Jell-O)
3 cups water
2 cups tequila
20 plastic shot cups
Juice from 1 lime
Boil 2 cups of water. While the water is boiling, mix 1 cup tequila with 1/2 cup water in one bowl and 1 cup tequila with 1/2 cup water in a second bowl.
Pour the red Jell-O into a third bowl and the blue in the fourth. When the water comes to a boil, pour 1 cup water in the bowl with the red Jell-O and 1 in the bowl with the blue Jell-O. Mix with a spoon until the Jell-O dissolves in the water.
Next, combine the blue Jell-O mixture with one of the bowls containing the tequila. Do the same with the red Jell-O and the other bowl of tequila. Add in the juice from half of the lime into each and mix again. Then spoon the mixtures into the shot cups.
Refrigerate for at least 3-4 hours before serving.
Don’t go too crazy, though, as this recipe makes strong Jell-O shots!
