If you are feeling a little let down like I was after learning the truth behind American craft whiskey, your first instinct may be to find the nearest bottle of scotch in which to drown your sorrows. I say, do your homework. Start by reading my piece, Craft Whiskey Exposed, and then find a rye worthy of the name and make an old fashioned (or two).

What you’ll need:
2 oz rye
2 oz club soda
1 tsp sugar
1 orange wedge
1 cherry
Angostura bitters

Directions:
Pour the club soda over ice and add the rye, sugar, and bitters. Stir until sugar dissolves and garnish with the orange wedge and cherry to serve.
