Welcome once again to Thirsty Thursday here on Dish + Drink. My absolute favorite summer drink is the gimlet (though I’ll admit to sometimes sneaking one or two in the winter months as well). A traditional gimlet is made with gin and Rose’s lime juice, but I prefer mine with vodka and fresh lime juice when possible.

What you’ll need:
2 oz. vodka
Juice from 1 1/2 limes
1 tsp turbinado sugar
Ice
Lime wedge

Directions:
In a blender, grate the ice so that it’s chopped. Add in the vodka, fresh lime juice, and sugar. Blend, serve, and garnish with the lime wedge.

Depending on how much you blend once adding in the liquids and sugar, you can get a frozen gimlet or you can make something of a gimlet granita. If you choose to blend less and make the granita, sprinkle a pinch more sugar over the top and eat with a spoon. Either way, a frozen vodka gimlet is a classically great, light summer cocktail.
