If it hasn’t already been made obvious, my most recent obsession is with creme de cassis, a classic liqueur made from blackcurrants. After working on the Tequila Sunrise on Cinco de Mayo, I’ve kept the bottle of cassis at the front of my liquor cabinet, just waiting for another excuse to use it. Lo and behold, I found the perfect use for it: the wine spritzer sunrise, which couldn’t be more perfect for brunch if it tried (save, of course, for the use of champagne instead of wine).

What you’ll need:
3 oz Alsatian pinot gris
1 oz club soda
1/2 oz grapefruit juice
1 oz orange juice
1/2 oz creme de cassis

Directions:
Place some ice in the bottom of a wine glass or a rocks glass. Pour over the wine and add the club soda, grapefruit juice, and orange juice. Stir lightly and pour in the cassis. For the full sunrise effect, don’t stir again after adding the cassis.
