When it comes to brunch in the fall, I like my meals to lend themselves a bit to the season’s favorite spices. So, I go for more sweet than savory and I definitely load on the cinnamon and syrup. These poached pears will pair perfectly with pancakes and waffles or as a side dish. You can also add a few ounces of bourbon or hard cider to the mix when you boil the pears to give them some extra zing.
What you’ll need:
4 bosc pears, pealed and chunked
1/2 cup apple cider
1/2 cup water
Combine the pears, cider, and water in a small saucepan. Boil and then simmer until the pears soften. Serve over pancakes or waffles.
