For some reason, the gin fizz is rarely included in lists of brunch cocktails. I, for one, am pretty surprised by that fact. A classic gin fizz is lemon juice, club soda, gin, simple syrup, and an egg white. Sounds pretty brunchy to me, but for a winter brunch, I thought it best to add in some honey and grapefruit juice to the mix.
In order to really get the necessary foamy head in this cocktail, you’ll need to shake this for at least 30 seconds before straining. And if you’ve had enough of these, you can skip the eggs benedict, right?
What you’ll need:
2 oz gin
1 oz club soda
1/2 oz fresh squeezed lemon juice
1/2 oz fresh squeezed grapefruit juice
1/2 oz clover honey
1 egg white
In a shaker, combine ice with the gin, lemon juice, grapefruit juice, club soda, egg white, and honey. Shake well and strain into a highball glass. Garnish with the lemon wedge.
