Bill’s Bar & Burger has three locations throughout New York City, but this review is focusing on the restaurant in the Marriott Downtown on West Street.
Bill’s boasts an eclectic bar menu with a lengthy list of creative burgers, starters, salads, sandwiches, tacos, and hot dogs. While you can’t go wrong with the Texas Brisket Chili, the burgers are the real selling point.
Thanks to caramelized onion, the Fat Cat tastes like a fusion of both cheeseburger and french onion soup. Bill’s also offers the Grilled Shrimp Burger (with avocado, carolina coleslaw, pickles, and tartar sauce), the Greek Burger (spicy lamb instead of beef, feta, and tzatziki sauce in a pita), and the Spicy Jalapeno Burger (with pepper jack cheese, pico de gallo, jalapeno, lettuce, and chipotle aioli) to name a few.
If you’re still not married to the idea of Bill’s Bar & Burger, let the milkshake menu change your mind. I had the Campfire, which tastes like s’mores thanks to roasted marshmallows on top, but Bill’s also offers the Gingerbread (gingersnaps with cinnamon and brown sugar) and the Chocolate Peanut Butter Bomb shake (toffee crunch, chocolate ice cream, and spiced peanuts) among some classics like vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, and coffee.
If that’s not enough, you can also add bourbon, Irish cream, rum, honey whiskey, creme de menthe, or hazelnut liqueur to your milkshake.
Speaking of alcohol, Bill’s also offers an extensive wine and beer list.
The service at Bill’s is attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. The place is decorated like a modern-meets-classic burger joint. With red leather booths and checkered tablecloths, the open space feels cozy.
Bill’s is a first stop of the night turned only stop of the night kind of place.
