Blueberry Avocado Smoothie

By now, it might be clear that I like to use Mondays following holiday weekends as cleanse days. After an extended weekend of barbecues packed with cheeseburgers, hot dogs, macaroni salad, and beer, our bodies need some time to recover. In my experience, the easiest way (not to mention one of the healthiest) to do so is by combining some raw fruits and vegetables in a smoothie. This smoothie blends banana, avocado, kale, and blueberries for a great combination of potassium, antioxidants, protein, and good fats.


What you’ll need:
1 banana
1/2 avocado
1/2 cup kale
1/4 cup blueberries
1/2 cup almond milk, unsweetened
Cinnamon
Ice

Directions:
Break up the banana and kale leaves and put them in a blender. Add the avocado and blueberries. Then, drop in the ice, pour in the almond milk, and add a dash of cinnamon. Blend until smooth and serve in two six-ounce glasses.
