My Grandma Claire is not only a poised, fashionable, and glamorous woman; she’s also quite the chef. Everybody in the family teases her because she reads cookbooks recreationally. Here is a recipe for one of her favorite dishes to prepare as an hors d’oeuvre– it requires no cooking, and all of the real work is done by your blender!

In a blender, blend together: 1/2 of a small onion, three tablespoons of lemon juice, and one packet of plain gelatin.
Add one pound of smoked salmon or shrimp, one cup of mayonnaise, one cup of cream, fresh pepper, and parsley or dill. (Mixture will be dense).

Pour into a mold (or a bowl).

Refrigerate for an hour, then turn out and serve!
