At this point, most people are aware that green tea offers a plethora of health benefits. What you may not know, though, is that in matcha, the benefits are heightened. When you drink green tea, you aren’t actually consuming the leaves. Matcha powder, however, is made up of the ground leaves.
So, while you’re having the entire leaf when you have matcha, you may find that it’s too bitter on its own. So far, I’ve found that I most enjoy it as a latte with some soy milk and occasionally a dash of honey, but putting it in a smoothie works too.
Here, I used almond milk as well as Siggi’s drinkable yogurt, which adds a nice thickness to the smoothie along with the sweetness from the nectarine and honey. All in all, this is a perfect breakfast.
What you’ll need:
3/4 cup Siggi’s drinkable yogurt
1/4 cup almond milk
1 tsp matcha powder
1/2 tsp honey
Slice the nectarine away from its pit and place it in a blender or Magic Bullet. Then, add the yogurt, milk, matcha powder, and honey. Pulse until smooth and then add the ice. Pulse again until it reaches the desired consistency and serve.
