There are few foods I like as much as I like sashimi. Among those few are avocados and any kind of cream cheese. Of course, there are sushi rolls that combine all three, but what if they come together in a sandwich?
Here, there’s an abundance of sashimi grade tuna just barely cooked along with fresh avocado and cream cheese, and it’s topped with a homemade soy ginger sauce.
What you’ll need for the soy ginger sauce:
1/4 cup water
1/8 cup teriyaki
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp garlic, crushed
1/2 tsp ginger, dried
Bring the water, teriyaki, soy sauce, garlic, and ginger to a boil in a small pan. Let simmer and stir continuously for about a minute. Set aside.
What you’ll need for the sandwich:
1/2 lb sashimi grade tuna steak
Soy ginger sauce
Semolina bread, toasted
Brush the fish in some olive oil and grill directly on the surface for two minutes per side. Make sure the grill is left open while the fish cooks.
Slice the fish and refrigerate for about 30-45 minutes.
To make the sandwich, first spread cream cheese on one side. Mash the avocado on the same side with a fork.
Lay the tuna on the other piece of bread and top with the soy ginger sauce. Put the sandwich together and serve.
