Though my recipes for grilled cheese are few and far between, I’d like to think they are all well worth the wait. This one in particular is a tad out there, but it is also likely one of my best sandwich creations to date. Red pepper flakes, fig butter, and provolone cheese fuse to form a sweet, spicy, and savory grilled cheese all in one.
What you’ll need:
2 slices semolina bread
1 slice chicken breast
1 slice provolone cheese
1/2 pear, thinly sliced
1 tsp fig butter
Red pepper flakes
First, heat some butter in a small skillet.
While the butter is melting, put the sandwich together by mashing the avocado onto one slice of bread with a fork. Then, layer the chicken, cheese, and pear. Add the fig butter and sprinkle red pepper flakes on top to taste.
Butter one side of the sandwich and place that side down in the hot pan. Fry until it browns, then butter the unbuttered side and flip the sandwich.
When both sides are browned and the cheese is slightly melted, remove the sandwich from the pan. Slice it in half to serve.
