Baked Apple Chips

Thanksgiving is just two weeks away, which means it is time to start planning your menu. These sweet homemade apple chips are about as simple to prepare as possible so you can get these in the oven early while you do your prep work for everything else.

I would, however, suggest baking these in either a separate oven altogether or during a different time slot than your turkey because these chips require some extra attention (i.e. opening and closing the oven door) that would disrupt cooking your turkey evenly.

What you’ll need:
4-5 fuji apples, sliced thin
1 tbsp pumpkin pie spice
1 tbsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp turbinado sugar
Olive oil

Preheat oven to 225.

In a large mixing bowl, add the apple slices, pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon, and sugar. Mix well with your hands and then lay the spiced slices out on a cookie sheet. Drizzle a liberal amount of olive oil on top and bake for about an hour and a half, turning every 30 minutes.

In order to reach the desired crispness, either turn the broiler on for the last 5 minutes or bump the heat to 375 for 8-10 minutes.

Remove from the oven and cool before serving.
